A war between competing simple explanations cannot be won, because simple explanations are not falsifiable, any more than the sky god outline of a constellation is falsifiable.It isn't even real enough to be tested. Thus such convictions are logically unassailable; and flourish in precarious times, for the illusion of wholeness & security they offer. Perhaps for weak minded people that illusion is indeed worth something. If only it didn't have genocide as one of the side effects!
